About the Cause
Posted by TH0385 in Thailand on 04/10/2026
We want to develop the concept of "A clean church is worship," linking environmental care with Christian responsibility, making members understand the importance of maintaining cleanliness in the long term, not just during a project. Toilets are a basic facility essential for the care of children in the community, church members, and all visitors, especially during worship services and other events with high usage. If toilets are unclean, substandard, or insufficient, it can lead to health problems, disease transmission, inconvenience, and an unprofessional image for the church. Providing hygienic, clean, safe toilets that can accommodate all users, including the elderly, children, and people with disabilities, is crucial. This promotes hygiene within the church community and reflects Christian love and mutual care. Furthermore, toilets with proper wastewater systems, adequate ventilation, and regular cleaning reduce the risk of infectious diseases such as gastrointestinal illnesses and seasonal outbreaks. They also contribute to a warm and caring atmosphere for members and visitors. Therefore, developing, improving, or constructing hygienic church toilets is necessary for: 1. Preventing the spread of infectious diseases through flies, thus protecting the health of children, church members, and the general public in the community. 2. Increasing cleanliness and establishing high hygiene standards in toilet use, ensuring safety and comfort. 3. Creating a positive environment around the church and improving the church's image. 4. Supporting the church as a suitable place for worship and activities for children and the general public in the community.

How the church will sustain the Cause
Guidelines for the Project: 1. Establish a permanent team to maintain the church restrooms. This could be a team from the building management or volunteers responsible for regularly inspecting cleanliness, equipment, and drainage systems, ensuring ongoing maintenance even after the project ends. 2. Establish a cleaning and equipment check schedule. Plan daily or weekly cleaning depending on usage, and check for damage to toilets, faucets, vents, electrical systems, and other equipment to ensure they are always ready for use. 3. Foster a shared discipline among members in maintaining cleanliness. Post campaign signs, use announcements, or provide short educational messages periodically to instill responsible restroom use among members, reducing unnecessary dirt and damage. 4. Establish an annual budget for maintenance. Allocate a budget for purchasing cleaning materials, minor repairs, or replacing worn-out equipment to ensure continuity and prevent interruptions due to insufficient funds. 5. Use durable and easily repairable materials and equipment. Choose standard sanitary ware with readily available spare parts to reduce long-term costs and extend lifespan, increasing sustainability by minimizing the need for frequent repairs. 6. Regularly inspect sanitation and ventilation systems. Have technicians regularly inspect the wastewater system, water tanks, and ventilation. 6. Reduce the risk of unpleasant odors and pipe blockages. 7. Promote member and youth participation, providing opportunities for members of all ages to help, such as church cleaning days and youth training in maintaining common areas, to foster a sense of ownership and shared responsibility for the space.
