About the Cause
Posted by TH0963 in Thailand on 10/10/2025
Chaem Noi Village is a steep mountain community, with houses nestled close together. This has led to a clear problem of uncleanness within the community, particularly the inappropriate disposal of waste, whether on the streets, under houses, or in other public areas. Community members lack awareness of the impact of waste on the environment, its filthiness, its negative health effects, and its uninhabitable character. Furthermore, community leaders lack a clear waste collection point, allowing community members to dispose of their waste as they please without proper waste sorting. This lack of knowledge about proper waste management is a primary cause of the overflowing waste and its filthiness. Villagers lack awareness of the value and potential for income generation through proper waste sorting and management, leading to a lack of incentives for effective waste management. Recognizing this problem, the Chaem Noi Youth Group, in collaboration with the "P2J Chaem Noi" group of young leaders, a group of leaders with strong character, abilities, and courage, held a meeting to exchange ideas and find a serious solution to the community's waste problem. The group's action plan involves collecting waste from Dong Sam Muen Village to Wat Chan Village. The group will open a collection point at the church, where church members and community members can sell their waste and learn about proper waste management. Furthermore, they will also participate in campaigns under the project. “We Love Waste Together” to promote effective waste management in communities and create a clean and livable model village.

How the church will sustain the Cause
The church isn't just seeking one-time grants to run its activities. We plan to make the project "self-sustaining," generating revenue from recycled waste to further develop the project, while fostering community engagement to ensure the project remains sustainable and reliant on long-term donations.
