About the Cause
Posted by TH0979 in Thailand on 10/10/2025
Our community is a Karen ethnic group located in the mountainous region of northern Thailand. Traveling in and out of the community is difficult, especially during the rainy season. Dirt roads make transportation difficult and impede access to basic resources such as food and health services. Many children in the community lack access to sufficient, high-quality food, which affects their physical, mental, and overall health development. To provide close care for the children, the community church organizes weekly activities to develop life skills and provide nutritious meals from all five food groups, ensuring that children receive the appropriate nutrition for their age. However, the current cafeteria is unsuitable for use: • Old and structurally weak buildings • Insufficient space for many children • Lack of adequate sanitation facilities All of these factors could jeopardize the health of children and caregivers. Urgent Needs Our community is seeking to renovate or construct a new cafeteria that is: • Hygienic • Safe • Suitable for current and future use • To ensure effective and sustainable care for children's nutrition and health.

How the church will sustain the Cause
Once the kitchen is funded and enhanced operationally, our church will continue to maintain it. A full-time caretaker is primarily responsible for cleaning and repairing any damage. Church members collaborate to maintain the facility regularly, ensuring it remains in good condition, safe for use, and sustainable for the local community and children's activities in the long term.
