About the Cause

Posted by TH0818 in Thailand on 03/26/2026

Currently, the community faces transportation challenges during the rainy season due to the lack of a permanent bridge over the stream, which especially affects students and youth traveling to school. During floods, crossing the stream becomes perilous due to strong currents. For instance, there was an incident where a child slipped on a makeshift bamboo bridge and nearly drowned, but a parent was able to rescue him in time. Despite this, the child missed school because of difficulty crossing the stream. This project is urgently needed to ensure the safety of students and the community while enhancing educational opportunities for local youth.

How the church will sustain the Cause

Establish a Community Revolving Fund: Community members will contribute 50 baht (1.42USD) per household annually (or as agreed) to create an emergency reserve fund and cover major maintenance costs. A fund committee, consisting of community and school representatives, will be established to manage the fund transparently and provide regular financial reports. School and Student Income-Generating Activities: Small cooperatives run by students and community members will be set up to produce simple goods and services, such as drinking water and snacks, for sale at the school and within the community. To support sustainability, 10% of profits will be earmarked for the bridge maintenance fund. Volunteer Team Building and Resource Management: An annual "Bridge Maintenance Day" will be organized, involving local craftsmen such as carpenters and masons. A list of volunteers will be created, requesting their cooperation in dedicating 1-2 days each year to performing minor repairs and inspections free of charge, ensuring the ongoing upkeep of the bridge.
