About the Cause

Thai herbs represent a valuable aspect of local wisdom, offering significant health and economic benefits. However, many children and youth currently lack the knowledge, understanding, and opportunities to learn about and preserve these traditional herbs. To address this gap, the Herbal Processing Project was established to inspire children to explore and appreciate the value of herbs through hands-on activities. Participants will engage in processing various herbal products, such as herbal soaps, balms, and compresses. This practical approach makes learning enjoyable, allowing children to gain valuable skills, apply their knowledge in daily life, and foster a sense of preservation for local wisdom. Moreover, the project aims to develop life skills that can open pathways to future careers, contributing to both personal development and community sustainability.

What the church is contributing

Physical Resources
The church and community have already contributed the location, laboratory facilities, herbal processing equipment (such as boilers, herb grinders, filters, and packaging machines), as well as the materials used in the experiments.
Human Resources
The community supports herbal processing by donating their time to serve as lecturers, assisting with location setup, providing equipment, and sourcing herbal and local raw materials.

How the church will sustain the Cause

Our church has developed clear guidelines to ensure the long-term sustainability of the children’s herbal processing course, eliminating its dependence on ongoing external funding. These include establishing a community-based learning system that leverages local resources, training volunteers to serve as ongoing instructors, and creating a revolving income stream through the sale of herbal products. These strategies aim to build self-reliance, foster community ownership, and maintain continuous educational and economic benefits for generations to come.
