About the Cause
Posted by TH0959 in Thailand on 10/10/2025
Currently, a significant number of youth in the Ban Mae La Ek community live in rural and remote areas. Children lack access to education and vocational skills that can provide a stable livelihood for themselves and their families. This puts some at risk of engaging in social problems such as unemployment, unproductive leisure time, and even drug addiction. Developing vocational skills for youth is therefore an important approach to developing a new generation of self-reliance and skills that are relevant to the community's environment. Fish farming is a suitable occupation because it requires a small amount of space, can be learned and practiced at the household level, has a low investment compared to the returns, and provides a nutritious protein source for families and communities. Therefore, the Mae La Ek Church of Blessings has introduced a fish farming vocational skills program for youth in the community. This program provides youth with the opportunity to learn and practice proper aquaculture skills, including cost management, marketing, and environmental stewardship. This program not only generates additional income and reduces household expenses, but also instills the capacity for youth to utilize their free time productively, builds social resilience, and ultimately becomes a key force in community development.
