The ‘Solar Cells for Kids’ project has now fully completed system installation, with all required equipment successfully procured and installed. The previous delay was primarily caused by ordering and transportation issues.

Date Posted: 05/18/2026

We would like to sincerely thank all supporters of the “Solar Cells for Children” project. The church processed the withdrawal of funds on April 9, 2026, and the responsible team proceeded to order the necessary equipment, including solar panels, wiring, lithium batteries, and other components required to assemble the solar power system, as these items were not available locally. All ordered components have now been received, and the solar power system has been successfully assembled and fully installed. The project experienced delays due to: The unavailability of certain components locally, requiring orders from other locations The installation of the solar power system has brought meaningful improvements to the church and community: The church now has a safe and well-lit environment Children and youth can gather more frequently for activities such as: Testimony Khwan, a child from the community, shared her excitement and happiness about having light at night. She is now able to complete her homework and participate in activities with her friends more easily. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude and prayed for God’s blessings upon all supporters and donors.

About the Cause

Posted by TH0928 in Thailand on 03/26/2026

In a small mountain village, 9-year-old Khwan struggles to complete her homework each evening before sunset due to the lack of electricity in her home. When the rainy season arrives, the overcast skies make studying nearly impossible, leaving her feeling frustrated and isolated. Khwan often voices her wish to have electricity like her friends in the city, highlighting a significant barrier to her education and future prospects. This project aims to address the pressing needs of children like Khwan, who are unable to learn and keep up with their peers due to inadequate access to electricity. Many families in the village are burdened by the high costs of batteries and fuel, while also facing the dangers associated with oil lamps. Furthermore, the community lacks knowledgeable individuals who can install and maintain solar cells, resulting in frequent repair costs and further hindering progress. The initiative seeks to support children and families living without electricity and empower youth interested in vocational skills related to solar energy. Community leaders will also benefit by gaining insights into energy planning for self-sufficiency. Energy is the foundation for learning and improving quality of life. By introducing solar cells, families can access safe electricity and eliminate the need for expensive batteries. The community will be equipped with the knowledge to repair and maintain solar systems, fostering independence and resilience. To implement this project, we will teach the basics of solar technology, covering panel operation, equipment selection, and safety. Students will receive hands-on training to install a lighting system in a model home. Additionally, we will develop a simple manual for long-term system maintenance and build a team of youth "Community Solar Cell Technicians" to assist other households. Through this initiative, we hope to see transformative changes: children like Khwan will finally have access to reading light, expanding their educational opportunities. Families will enjoy reduced expenses and an improved quality of life, while the community as a whole will benefit from self-sufficient clean energy. As a result, community members will gain valuable skills, becoming the solar cell technicians of the future. This project is about empowering Khwan and her peers, creating a brighter and more sustainable future through accessible energy solutions.

How the church will sustain the Cause

The church will serve as the hub for sustainable management of the community solar cell system. This initiative will kick off by training youth and volunteers to form a "Church Solar Technician Team," equipping them with the skills to inspect, clean, and conduct basic maintenance. By doing so, we will significantly reduce reliance on costly external contractors. Additionally, the church will create a small fund through community activities, such as selling produce, offering local training sessions, or leveraging solar technology to reduce the church's electricity expenses. The savings generated will be reinvested into ongoing system maintenance, covering costs for battery replacements, wiring inspections, and necessary equipment purchases. To further enhance sustainability, the church will regularly collect energy usage data, allowing for proactive maintenance planning and minimizing the risk of system failures. The solar cell initiative will also serve as a platform for educating children, youth, and families about the importance of self-sufficiency in clean energy management. This comprehensive approach ensures that the solar cell project is not merely a one-time installation but can operate independently, sustained by the community's own resources without the need for additional funding. Through this plan, we aim to foster a culture of sustainability, empowering the community to manage their energy needs effectively for years to come.
