About the Cause

Posted by TH0900 in Thailand on 02/20/2026

Many families in our community need a steady source of affordable, high-quality protein, especially for children and the elderly. Eggs are an important part of a healthy diet, and by producing them locally, families can have reliable access to nutritious food at lower cost than buying from the market. Making eggs at home also helps reduce household expenses. Families can use what they need and sell any extra, earning additional income to support daily needs. Over time, this creates a small, sustainable economic system within the community. This project also gives children and adults a chance to learn important skills — caring for chickens, managing a small farm, processing and storing eggs, and even selling them. These skills can help them be more self-reliant now and open doors for future work or projects. We expect that within 6–12 months, participating families will produce enough eggs to meet most of their household needs, reducing the need to buy from outside. Some families may be able to sell surplus eggs, providing extra income and helping the local economy grow. At the same time, children and youth will gain life skills and confidence that will stay with them beyond this project.

How the church will sustain the Cause

This project helps youth and children gain skills that go beyond raising chickens. They learn how to care for animals, manage a small farm, and handle basic business tasks like selling eggs and keeping accounts. Some may even learn to sell online. By taking responsibility for their chickens and their income, children grow skills they can use long after the project begins. The project is designed to be self-sustaining. Families can use the income from egg sales to buy feed and expand their flocks, so the project does not need long-term outside funding. Producing their own eggs also helps households have steady access to nutritious food and protects families from price changes in the market. At the same time, the project strengthens the whole community. Children, parents, and elders work together, sharing knowledge and learning from one another. This helps pass down traditional farming skills, builds cooperation, and creates a strong foundation for the project to continue for years, even without additional support.
