Construction of Sanitation facility Report

Date Posted: 05/28/2026

We thank God that the toilet construction project has finally been completed. Children and youth have already started using the new facility with great joy and appreciation. The facility was carefully designed to promote proper hygiene and sanitation within the Child Development Center, while also ensuring accessibility for physically disabled users. Through this Cause project, the long-standing challenge of poor sanitation facilities has been fully addressed. Previously, inadequate sanitation had become one of the reasons government authorities halted church activities. Today, that concern has been resolved, bringing relief and renewed hope to both the church and the community. In April, when the children returned to the Center, their excitement was visible as they saw the new facility for the first time. One child, Didier, shared his happiness, saying: “It is all joy for all of us. When I saw that the new and better toilet facility had been constructed, I knew that my prayer had been answered. This is one of the best facilities in the community.” The issue of poor toilet facilities will no longer be mentioned as a challenge facing the church. We are deeply grateful to all the donors and supporters who contributed toward this wonderful cause. May God richly bless them for their generosity and for helping create a healthier, safer, and more dignified environment for the children and the entire community.

About the Cause

Rwabutazi

Posted by Rwabutazi in Rwanda on 10/24/2024

This activity is aimed at combating diseases that are caused by poor sanitation and hygiene especially as a result of using toilets that do not meet the requirements. In fact, there are other problems that the church wants to address, but the most disturbing and worrying thing is the inadequate toilets. Our project has young children between the ages of 8-14 who need hygienic care, our church is located in a rural area where the means are limited. We tried to build a 5-room toilet but it is outdated and does not meet the requirements such as being used by people with disabilities, young children and the elderly. These toilets are expected to be used by children in a hygienic way because they will use water. The reason why we decided to seek donations is that the church receives about 600 different people a month, including children in the project, students, their parents and others who come to the church, since it is a church that has activities that help the society, including, a school that teaches sewing for children, parents of children those who are helped in the project learn to sew, children from the villages around the church study at the school located at the church, all those people meet at the church, so the quality of the bathroom becomes a problem. This bathroom will have 6 rooms including a bathroom that will be used by the toddlers who would need to be cleaned many times and girls who need improved hygiene.

How the church will sustain the Cause

The church congregation often offers labor to the community. We will make use of this same approach to ensure sustainability of the facility. Although it is not easy for some members, this is something we can continue to work on. We can even do reparations like we always do.
