Compassion Causes

Use of Funds

Thank you for your interest in Compassion International's (CI) 'Compassion Causes' Initiative. Your gift will be received in CI's unrestricted fund, and CI will make every effort to use your funds for the specific Compassion Causes project that you have chosen. If CI is unable to use all or part of your gift as originally intended, CI will endeavor to use the funds for another Compassion Causes project. If CI, in its sole discretion, determines that is not possible, then your gift will be used for other important work at CI.

Tax Information

Description of a 501(c)(3)

One of the most distinct provisions unique to Section 501(c)(3) organizations as compared with other tax-exempt entities is the tax deductibility of donations. 26 U.S.C. § 170, provides a deduction, for federal income tax purposes, for donors who make charitable contributions to most types of 501(c)(3) organizations.
