Vocational school project focusing on trades (sewing, hairdressing, welding, carpentry, building electricity, auto and motorcycle mechanics)

Date Posted: 02/12/2026

The project to create the Vocational Training Center was very well received by the community, as the need for vocational training is particularly acute in our context. Many young people are out of school or unemployed, and opportunities to learn a trade remain limited. With the resources available to date, the Center has been able to begin training: • 15 young people in sewing, 2 young people in building electricity, 1 young person in welding, 1 young person in hairdressing, 1 young person in motorcycle mechanics, and 2 young people in automotive mechanics. Of these beneficiaries, 5 have already completed their training, and approximately 15 others will complete theirs this year. As with any project in its development phase, we have encountered some difficulties. The main ones are: • A lack of sufficient training materials, both in terms of quality and quantity; • The high cost of qualified trainers, which sometimes slows down the optimal implementation of activities. The impact of the project is already noticeable within the church and the community. The needs for sewing, electrical maintenance, mechanics, and other services are gradually being met by our own young people. This significantly reduces expenses and strengthens their sense of belonging and responsibility. To you, dear donors, we want to say thank you. Your support will restore hope, dignity, and future prospects to young people who had few of them. God bless you!

About the Cause

Posted by BF0482 in Burkina Faso on 04/03/2025

This project aims to create a vocational school to teach sewing, welding, mechanics, carpentry (wood and aluminum), and masonry. The goal is to provide technical and practical training to young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to offer them sustainable career opportunities and prepare them to enter the job market or start their own businesses. The school will include equipped workshops, qualified teachers, and programs tailored to local needs. This project will help reduce unemployment, improve living conditions, and promote the economic empowerment of beneficiaries and their families in the Karaba community.

How the church will sustain the Cause

1- Generate Self-Sufficient Income The center can become partially self-funded by: -Selling Products: The sewing, carpentry, and welding workshops could produce items (clothing, furniture, tools) sold locally or in nearby markets. -Offering Paid Services: The center could offer repair, construction, or tailoring services to the community, thus generating recurring income. -Organizing Paid Training: Advanced or specialized training modules could be offered at affordable rates, while maintaining free or subsidized training for the most disadvantaged. 2-Rigorous Monitoring and Evaluation To ensure sustainability, the Church should: - Monitor Performance: Regularly evaluate the center's impact and adjust strategies to maximize effectiveness. - Involve Beneficiaries: Learners and the community should be consulted to identify needs and improve services.
