Language is an important cultural heritage that reflects the identity, wisdom, and way of life of an ethnic group. The Karen language is not only a means of communication but also a key symbol of Karen cultural identity and pride. Therefore, preserving and passing on the Karen language is essential for maintaining cultural heritage and strengthening community identity.
Currently, many Karen children and youth have limited opportunities to learn and use the Karen language, resulting in declining skills in speaking, reading, and writing. To address this challenge, the “Youth Preserving the Karen Language and Identity” Project has been developed to enhance Karen language skills among children and youth, foster pride in their ethnic identity, and promote the active involvement of families and communities in preserving and transmitting the Karen language to future generations.
Empowering children to walk closely with God, excel in their personal growth, and become dedicated contributors to our society.
