About the Cause
Posted by TH0825 in Thailand on 04/22/2026
In our rural community, many families live close together, and the current way of handling waste is not organized in a way that cares well for the land or the people living on it. Waste is often left in open areas without a clear system, which leads to scattered garbage, lingering smoke from uncontrolled trash burning, and a heavy impact on air quality and daily life. If this is addressed, families will experience a cleaner and more peaceful environment where waste is no longer left to accumulate or burn for long periods of time. Instead, any necessary burning can be managed in a controlled and limited way, lasting only minutes rather than becoming long, lingering smoke that affects the air and health of the community. This will help restore cleaner air, reduce health risks, and create a more life-giving environment for children and families. To respond to this need, our church wants to take the lead in building a more organized and creation-care centered waste system for the community. This includes helping the community collect, separate, and manage waste in a more structured way, while encouraging practices that reduce harm to the environment and protect the air we all breathe. Our church wants to guide the community toward a way of living that cares for God’s creation through simple, responsible daily actions that bring dignity back to the land and health back to the people.

How the church will sustain the Cause
Going forward, our church will maintain and manage this waste management system as a long-term community responsibility rather than a one-time project. We want to ensure that the system continues to function properly through regular care, monitoring, and shared responsibility within the community. The church will take an active role in overseeing maintenance and encouraging proper use of the system so that it remains effective over time. At the same time, we want the community to gradually take ownership of cleanliness practices so that responsibility is shared rather than dependent on outside support. Over time, this will become a stable community system where waste is managed in an organized way, the environment is kept clean, and the church continues to support both practical care and community well-being in a sustainable way.
