About the Cause

Posted by TH0700 in Thailand on 04/22/2026

In our community, there is a boy named Chai. He is 13 years old and full of energy, but most of his daily life is spent on his phone. Over time, this has affected his physical health, leaving him easily tired and less active, and it has also affected his confidence and ability to interact with others. He finds it difficult to work in a team, handle challenges, or deal with failure in a healthy way. If this is not addressed, many children like Chai may continue to grow up with limited physical activity and reduced social connection, which can impact both their health and their emotional development. Parents also begin to worry as they see their children spending more time online than engaging in real-world relationships and movement. To respond to this, our church wants to expand a sports camp that gives children like Chai a safe and active environment where they can step away from screens and engage with others. Through sports activities, teamwork games, and guided reflection, children will learn how to work together, face challenges, and rebuild confidence in their own abilities. We also want to help them experience movement as something joyful and meaningful, helping them reconnect with others and understand themselves as part of God’s creation.

How the church will sustain the Cause

Going forward, our church will develop this sports ministry as an ongoing part of our youth and community life rather than a one-time program. We will build a team of volunteers who can help lead activities, support coaching, and guide children in both physical and character development. We will use existing spaces and resources such as church grounds and basic sports equipment, maintaining them carefully so they can be used long-term without heavy ongoing costs. This allows the program to remain active and accessible for children throughout the year. This sports ministry will also be integrated into our regular church activities, especially youth development and outreach, so it becomes a consistent part of how we serve the community. Over time, participants themselves will begin to take ownership by helping lead games, support younger children, and assist in organizing activities. Through this shared responsibility, the program will continue to grow in a sustainable way, not dependent on outside funding, but supported by a community that values health, relationships, and spiritual growth together.
