About the Cause

Posted by TH0329 in Thailand on 06/05/2026

“Traditional Handwoven Fabric: A Community Tie” is inspired by Auntie Ka-la, an elderly single mother caring for her intellectually disabled child. Despite her difficult life, she continues to preserve the wisdom of traditional weaving and intends to pass on this knowledge to her descendants to create a sustainable self-sufficiency. Currently, the community lacks materials and equipment for weaving. This course aims to support weaving education for children, youth, and women in the community through hands-on training and the development of contemporary products. We hope that the younger generation will appreciate local wisdom, generate supplementary income, and help preserve the weaving culture. It will be more than just teaching weaving skills; it will be a space of opportunity, sharing, and community empowerment. This will enable community members to recognize their own value and the value of their local culture, develop contemporary woven fabrics, create sustainable income, and ensure the continuation of traditional weaving knowledge for future generations.

How the church will sustain the Cause

1. Generate income from community products: Develop woven fabrics into products such as bags, clothing, and souvenirs, and sell them both within the community and online to generate income for the project. 2. Establish occupational groups/community enterprises: Form groups of weavers and learners into community organizations with a shared income management system to ensure continuity and transparency. 3. Transfer knowledge from generation to generation: Train young people to become future instructors, ensuring the knowledge is not lost and the activities can be continued by the community itself.
