About the Cause

In the high mountains of northern Thailand, depression among parents and caregivers is increasing, leading in some cases to suicide. Living far away, we do not have access to mental health care support. When caregivers struggle with mental health, children lack the support and guidance they need to grow safely and thrive. Families face economic pressures, debt, rising costs of living, family separation, and children leaving home for work, all of which worsen emotional strain. We will help parents and caregivers recover through a structured course that strengthens family and community life. Activities will reduce depression, rebuild self-worth, and teach emotional awareness, impulse control, and coping skills. They will foster relationships within and between households, create shared spaces for mutual learning, encourage productive family time, and support careers that bring happiness. With support from churches, health-promoting hospitals, communities, and public health professionals, parents and caregivers will reintegrate into their families and communities. Children will receive attentive care and guidance, helping families regain stability. Over time, communities will see stronger bonds, healthier caregiving practices, and children growing into capable, resilient adults, while families build resilience against depression and its most severe consequences.
