About the Cause

Posted by TH0343 in Thailand on 04/10/2026

In rural areas, communities and schools continue to struggle with a lack of reliable electricity. This results in the inability of local children to access learning materials due to the lack of a reliable electricity source. This deprives children and youth in remote areas of access to quality education comparable to those in urban schools, leading to educational inequality and limiting child development. Solar energy is a clean, sustainable form of energy for both households and schools. In communities with 80% year-round sunlight, solar cell systems are ideal for rural schools with sufficient sunlight. Installing solar cells in community schools will address power outages, reduce long-term energy costs, and enable schools to efficiently use digital devices. This allows children to learn essential 21st-century technologies, gain greater access to information and learning resources, and enhance school safety, such as nighttime lighting and emergency communication systems. The solar cell education project is essential to increase learning opportunities, reduce inequality, and support the equitable development of children and youth in rural areas. This will help schools provide a stable, energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly energy system, as well as promote learning about renewable energy. Students will learn from readily available energy sources, laying the foundation for clean energy and the future sustainability of the community.

How the church will sustain the Cause

Guidelines for Sustainable Future Development of Solar Power Installation Projects in Rural Schools To ensure that solar power systems installed in schools provide maximum continued benefit to children and communities, a clear and sustainable development approach is required, as follows: 1. Establish a maintenance system where the community and school collaborate by establishing a "Solar Cell Care Team" comprising teachers, students, parents, and community members. Provide basic training on equipment inspection, panel cleaning, and failure detection and annual maintenance plans to reduce costs and extend the life of the system. 2. Develop schools into community clean energy learning centers, allowing community members, housewives, farmers, and youth to learn about solar cell use. Participate in projects from government or private agencies supporting renewable energy projects. Use the school as a model for households in the community to use solar cell technology to reduce electricity bills. 3. Organize activities to enhance students' skills related to renewable energy by establishing a "Solar Energy and the Environment" club, training students in science projects such as small electrical systems, solar cell flashlights, and energy efficiency measurement. This will build basic electrical knowledge, which can be applied to future careers. 4. Develop energy management to generate additional income for the school in the long term.
