About the Cause
Posted by TH0964 in Thailand on 04/23/2026
In our community, children do not always have access to enough nutritious food, especially protein. Many families depend on farming or daily wage work, and income is often uncertain. Because of this, some children do not receive the consistent nutrition they need to grow, learn, and stay healthy. To respond to this need, our church will raise egg-laying chickens as a local food source that families can manage and benefit from. Children and youth will take part in caring for the chickens, collecting eggs, and learning simple skills like feeding, cleaning, and basic record keeping. This creates a simple, steady way for families to access food within their own homes. As a result, children will begin to eat more regularly and receive the nutrition they need for healthy growth and learning. Families will feel less daily pressure around providing meals, and children will grow up in a more stable environment where food is consistent. At the same time, children will gain responsibility, practical skills, and confidence through their involvement, helping build a stronger foundation for their future.

How the church will sustain the Cause
As families begin to receive eggs regularly, any surplus can be sold or shared, creating a small but steady flow of income that can be used to maintain feed and care for the chickens. This allows the work to support itself while continuing to meet household needs. Children and youth will remain actively involved, learning by doing and gradually taking responsibility alongside adults. As more families gain experience, they can support one another, share knowledge, and expand the practice into other households. Local selling within the community will help keep the system active, while small group cooperation will strengthen both production and trust between families. Over time, this will grow into a simple but reliable network of food and income that continues without depending on outside support.
