In our community, many young people have free time but not many opportunities to learn a skill they can use. Some begin to lose direction and fall into unhealthy habits. Barbering will give them another path.
We have started a small program, but want to expand it to more youth with more equipment. Youth will learn how to cut hair step by step, starting with basic skills and practicing with guidance. They will learn how to use tools safely, keep their space clean, and treat customers with respect.
As they grow more confident, they will begin to serve people in the community. The barbershop will become a place where they can practice, improve, and build trust with others. Through this, they will learn more than just cutting hair. They will learn patience, responsibility, and how to speak with people. They will begin to take pride in their work and see that they can do something well.
We specifically want to do barbering as our Cause, because this skill will stay with them. Whether they remain in the community or go elsewhere, they will always have a way to support themselves. More importantly, they will see a better path for their future and choose it.
