About the Cause

Posted by TH0281 in Thailand on 03/27/2026

In our community, there are families who have land and small water areas, but they are not always used in a way that brings steady food or income. At the same time, some parents still have to look for work outside, and some young people have time but not many chances to learn something useful. We want to change this by expanding our small initial project of fish and frog farming. Families will begin raising fish and frogs in ponds they already have or can prepare nearby. They will learn how to care for the water, how to feed the animals, and how to notice when something is not right. Those who have experience will guide others, and people will learn by doing and helping each other. This will not only provide food for the household but also something extra that can be shared or sold within the community. Over time, some families may begin to raise young fish or frogs to pass on to others, or prepare simple foods that can be kept longer and sold when needed. Young people will take part in safe and guided ways. They will help with daily care, learn how to manage simple tasks, and understand how food is raised. This will give them a sense of direction and help them build responsibility and teamwork. The work will also connect with what families are already doing. Fish and frogs can be raised near rice fields or gardens, helping make better use of the land. This will support natural growing methods and reduce the need for chemicals. Families will begin to see how caring for animals and caring for crops can support each other. As more people take part, the church will become a trusted resource in the community where learning happens naturally. Others can come and see how it works, and the knowledge will continue to grow within the community. What starts as a way to raise food will grow into something that supports families, builds skills, and helps people stay and grow together in their own place.

How the church will sustain the Cause

This work will continue because it is built on what families already have and already know. Ponds will be made from available land such as garden spaces, rice fields, or small water areas. Families will not need expensive setups. They will start simple and improve over time as they learn what works best. Fish and frogs will be chosen to match the local environment so they grow well and stay healthy. Families will learn how to care for them step by step, including feeding, water care, and watching for signs of illness. This knowledge will be shared from one person to another, so it does not stay with only a few. Feed will come from local materials whenever possible, such as plant scraps or other available resources. This will keep costs low and make it easier for families to continue on their own. The work will grow through people. Those who learn will begin to guide others, especially youth. Young people will continue taking part in daily care in safe ways, learning by doing alongside adults. As the ponds become more stable, families can slowly expand. Some may raise young fish or frogs to share with others. Others may begin preparing simple foods that can be sold or stored. In this way, the work can grow without needing outside support. Over time, the church can become a place where others come to learn. Not as a formal center at first, but as a place where people can see, ask questions, and try for themselves. Because this is based on local resources, shared effort, and practical knowledge, it will continue as part of daily life. It will keep providing food, building skills, and strengthening the community year after year.
