In the communities of our canton, a certain percentage of young people often work in agriculture as part-time day laborers to help support their families. This type of work is strenuous for their age, especially considering the climate, which fluctuates between sunny and rainy days. This led to the idea that these young people could learn skills to generate income to help with their studies and household expenses. We aim to empower young people to succeed by putting their newly acquired skills into practice. Why a barbershop? The primary reason for choosing a barbershop is that it allows them to earn income at home or near their residences, freeing up more time for their studies. Furthermore, an assessment of the area and communities where they live revealed a lack of nearby barbershops. The closest barbershop is a 10-minute ride away by public transportation (bus) or even longer by bicycle, presenting a significant entrepreneurial opportunity in the area. This initiative aims first and foremost to equip young people with skills they can leverage now and in the future. Secondly, it seeks to bolster their families' incomes and make this service more accessible to the community. The workshop will be led by a qualified professional who will provide participants with the necessary tools for hands-on practice, ensuring that they learn all the required knowledge through a safe and effective combination of theory and practice.
