About the Cause

Posted by TH0281 in Thailand on 03/27/2026

Many parents in the church have to leave home to find work far away so they can provide for their families. Pig farming will let families earn food and income while staying at home. We have been able to help a couple families start pig farming, but this Cause will allow us to expand to more families and build better pens. Children, youth, and families will take part in raising pigs safely and responsibly. They will learn how to feed the pigs, keep pens clean, and watch for signs of illness. Experienced farmers will guide them, sharing knowledge about care, planning, and working together. Youth will also learn how to plan each batch of piglets, make decisions about feeding and housing, and keep animals healthy. This hands-on work will teach responsibility, careful decision-making, and teamwork. The pigs will give more than income. Their manure will be used on fields to improve soil and help crops grow naturally. Families will see how raising animals and caring for crops go together, keeping the land healthy for the future. The program will give children and youth a safe and meaningful way to learn skills that matter. They will see how planning, effort, and teamwork produce real results. The church will become a place where families, youth, and the land all grow stronger together.

How the church will sustain the Cause

The pig farming program will continue using the resources the church already has. Barns will be built or improved simply and safely, with clean pens, proper drainage, and space for feed and tools. Families will plan each raising cycle so pigs are always growing and youth have ongoing learning opportunities. Feed will come from local materials such as rice bran, corn, and vegetable scraps to keep costs low. Health care for the pigs will follow simple routines. Youth and adults will watch for illness, vaccinate, deworm, and practice basic hygiene to prevent disease. Adults will guide the youth, and youth will take active roles in caring for the pigs. Knowledge will be passed from one group to the next, so skills stay in the community. By relying on local resources, shared effort, and practical routines, pig farming at the church will continue steadily. It will give families food, youth experience, and healthier soil, while keeping the church community strong and connected.
