About the Cause
Posted by TH0415 in Thailand on 04/10/2026
Currently, children and youth aged 7-15 years face high-risk social environments, including access to inappropriate online media, online gambling, drug abuse, and engaging in unproductive activities during their free time. Many children lack creative spaces and activities that promote appropriate energy expenditure, resulting in a lack of discipline, poor social skills, and an increased likelihood of engaging in risky behaviors. We want to expand our small sports program with this Cause. Sports play a crucial role in the holistic development of children and youth, encompassing physical, emotional, social, and personal discipline. Regular sports participation reduces the misuse of free time while simultaneously fostering health, strength, sportsmanship, the ability to accept victory and defeat, and teamwork. Furthermore, sports provide a way for children to expend energy appropriately, reduce stress, and boost self-confidence. Therefore, our church has launched this Cause to create a safe space for children to engage in consistent, creative activities, promote sports skills, and prevent risky behaviors through fun, engaging, and accessible activities. The goal is to improve the quality of life for children in the community, encourage them to use their free time wisely, and help them grow into healthy youths with strong social resilience.

How the church will sustain the Cause
The project is designed to continue through local community support. Volunteer teachers, parents, sports coaches, and older youth can help run activities, reducing the need for outside funding. Existing school fields and community spaces are used, along with equipment already available from previous activities. A permanent youth sports group can be formed so children continue training regularly even after the project ends. Activities can rotate across different sports to keep engagement high. Local schools can also integrate sports sessions into their regular schedules, allowing children to continue participating at no additional cost. Older children who gain skills can take on leadership roles by helping guide younger participants. This peer-led system strengthens continuity and builds confidence in both leaders and learners.
