About the Cause
Posted by TH0328 in Thailand on 04/10/2026
Promoting basic hygiene for children and youth is a crucial factor in improving their quality of life and ensuring their healthy growth. This is especially true for children in dormitories and church activities, who often share large public spaces. Unsanitary, damaged, or inadequate restrooms pose a risk of disease transmission, gastrointestinal infections, skin problems, and long-term impacts on children's confidence and hygiene behaviors. Currently, restrooms in dormitories and churches are in poor condition, inadequate, and lack essential cleaning equipment. For example, inconsistent water systems, slippery, unsafe floors, and lack of proper waste disposal facilities can disrupt daily life for children in dormitories and church activities, impacting their physical health, hygiene, and the orderliness of common areas. Therefore, constructing or renovating restrooms that meet standards, are sanitary, safe, and adequate for the number of users. This ensures that all children have access to clean restrooms with adequate water, complete equipment, and age-appropriate designs. This helps instill good hygiene habits, improves their quality of life, reduces the risk of illness, and supports the church's long-term, sustainable childcare mission. This project represents a necessary and worthwhile investment to create a safe and healthy environment that promotes healthy child growth and well-being for the future.

How the church will sustain the Cause
This is our plan for maintaining this cause: 1. Establish a regular maintenance system. Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly cleanings and check equipment such as faucets, toilets, light bulbs, and drains. Assign clear responsibilities, such as dormitory caretakers or volunteer shifts for older children. This system helps prevent damage before it spreads and maintains continuous cleanliness. 2. Build discipline and cooperation among children and users. Train children on proper toilet use, such as flushing, proper waste disposal, and handwashing. Place toilet hygiene information signs in restrooms and encourage children to take turns cleaning each day. This helps everyone participate and feel that the restrooms are a shared responsibility. 3. Support from churches and communities: Church members and parents are encouraged to participate in restroom maintenance, such as by inspecting the condition or participating in activities. Accept small donations of materials, such as detergent, toilet paper, and hand soap. This participation builds a sense of ownership and encourages the community to continue to care for the restrooms. 4. Establish a restroom maintenance fund. This fund is a small central fund for repairs, equipment purchases, and other emergency solutions. Donations are also accepted.
