About the Cause

Posted by TH0377 in Thailand on 05/20/2026

Principles The core principles of the "Safety Water" project are based on the recognition of fundamental human rights and public health standards, as follows: 1. Fundamental Right to Water: The first principle recognizes that clean water is a basic human right that everyone should have access to. The state or relevant agencies have the responsibility to provide and regulate it. 2. Public Health Safety: Water used for consumption must be free from pathogens (e.g., bacteria, viruses) and hazardous chemicals (e.g., heavy metals, pesticides) according to standards set by the World Health Organization (WHO) or national public health agencies. 3. Sustainability and Sufficiency: Water management must consider the sustainability of water resources and be able to provide sufficient clean water to meet the needs of the population now and in the future (Water Security). Rationale The "Safety Water" project has several important reasons and necessities: 1. Health and Hygiene Reasons Prevention of waterborne diseases: Unclean water is a major carrier of diseases such as cholera, typhoid, dysentery, and diarrhea, which are significant causes of illness and death, especially in young children and the elderly. 1. Reducing the risks from toxins: Contamination by chemicals such as arsenic, lead, or fluoride at levels exceeding standards can have long-term health effects, such as cancer or developmental disorders. 2. Quality of life and economic reasons: Improving the quality of life: Access to clean and safe drinking water contributes to better health, reduces healthcare costs, and increases opportunities for education and employment.

How the church will sustain the Cause

Guidelines for Sustainable Implementation of the "Safety Water" Project Sustaining the "Safety Water" project long-term without relying on external funding requires robust financial planning and management, capable of generating its own revenue (Revenue Generation) or reducing costs (Cost Reduction). Here are the key approaches to achieving the project's financial sustainability: 1. Revenue Generation from Water Services 1.1 Charging a fair water fee (Cost Recovery Tariff): 1.2 Selling bottled/containerd drinking water within the community: Establish a community-based high-quality drinking water production plant and sell it at a slightly below-market price, using the profits from these sales as the primary working capital. Create a community "Safety Water" brand to foster pride and trust.
