About the Cause

Posted by TH0953 in Thailand on 04/22/2026

Our church has already begun a small-scale pig farming activity as a way to introduce children and youth to practical skills that can support their future livelihoods. This initial step has shown that there is interest and potential for learning, but the current scale is not enough to fully equip more participants or maximize the impact for families in the community. Our community faces ongoing financial challenges where many families need additional income and practical skills to support their daily living. Children and youth often do not have access to vocational training that can prepare them for future work, while families continue to depend on unstable income sources. If this is addressed, children and youth will be able to develop stronger practical skills in animal husbandry that can support both future employment and small business opportunities. Families will benefit from reduced expenses through access to locally produced food and potential income, while also gaining more stability in their daily living. Over time, this will help strengthen food security and open pathways for more structured skill development in areas such as processing and small-scale trade. We will provide more consistent training in animal care, feeding, hygiene, cost management, and basic marketing so that participants can learn in a practical and organized way. We also want to improve the system so that the project can support small-scale processing and income generation in a more reliable way. Through this expansion, we want to build on what has already started and turn it into a stronger, more sustainable learning and livelihood opportunity for families in our community.

How the church will sustain the Cause

Going forward, our church will continue developing this pig farming project as a growing system that builds on what has already started at a small scale. We want to expand it step by step into a stable, community-based training and income activity. Income from pig sales will continue to be reinvested into feed, piglets, and care costs so that the project can grow without losing stability. As the program expands, our church will strengthen clear financial management so that income and expenses remain transparent and sustainable. Our church will also continue training participants in animal care, health, and basic farm management so that more families can take part in the work over time. As capacity grows, we will involve more volunteers and community members in shared responsibility for daily operations. We also want to continue improving the system through better planning of production cycles, local resource use, and small-scale processing opportunities. Over time, what began as a small initiative will continue to grow into a self-sustaining community system where skills, income, and responsibility are shared and passed on.
