About the Cause
Posted by TH0978 in Thailand on 03/26/2026
Our church ministers to many children and youth in remote areas who lack access to vocational skills due to economic constraints, local conditions, access to learning resources, and career opportunities that fit the community context. One occupation that aligns with rural life and can generate sustainable income is raising local pigs. These animals are easy to raise, require minimal investment, utilize natural feed, and are in high demand both within the community and nearby. Developing vocational skills through local pig farming helps children and youth learn essential skills for the future, such as responsibility, planning, financial management, teamwork, and generating their own income. Furthermore, it encourages youth to utilize their free time productively, reduce risk factors for social problems, generate additional income for their families, and ultimately become small-scale entrepreneurs. This project focuses on providing children and youth with access to training and knowledge on local pig farming, animal health care, pen management, cost-benefit estimation, and market connections, both locally and online. This aims to increase economic opportunities for youth, enabling them to achieve sustainable self-reliance while remaining consistent with and respecting the traditional way of life of the community. Therefore, our church wants to focus on this pig farming Cause, which aims to provide income to children and youth within the church's community. This project aims to develop these young people into careers, achieve economic stability, and become a key force in the development of their communities.

How the church will sustain the Cause
The project uses a revolving fund system to begin raising a small number of pigs. When the profits are sold, they will be used to raise pigs again in the next round. Costs are also reduced by using food available in the community and income is increased by processing or producing fertilizer from pig manure. This allows the project to generate sufficient income to continue sustainably without having to collect additional funds from participants or community members.
