UEBR Gatebe Church implements Compassion International Rwanda Child Development Project RW0449, which was established in December 2019 and currently serves 250 registered children and 253 caregivers. The community surrounding the church faces significant poverty-related challenges that negatively affect the well-being and development of children and their families.
Although the project has nine classrooms for regular program activities, it lacks a multipurpose hall that can accommodate large gatherings of children, caregivers, church members, and community residents. Because of this limitation, the church sanctuary has been used for multiple purposes, including meetings, meal services, child gift distributions, children's entertainment activities, and worship services. This arrangement creates challenges in effectively conducting both church and child development activities.
The construction of a multipurpose hall will provide adequate space for children's activities, gift distribution events, meals during Saturday program sessions, meetings, training, and recreational activities. The facility will also serve the church and the wider community by providing a suitable venue for hosting large gatherings and community events. Ultimately, the hall will improve service delivery, enhance the participation of children and caregivers, and strengthen community support for child development initiatives.
